God the Father is the Gardener, Jesus is the Vine and the believers are the branches. Branches that do not bear fruits He cuts off. Branches on the other hand, that bear fruits He prunes. According to Wikipedia. Pruning is a practice involving the selective removal of parts of a plant, such as branches, buds, or roots. Reasons to prune plants include deadwood removal, shaping (by controlling or directing growth), improving or maintaining health, reducing risk from falling branches, preparing nursery specimens for transplanting, and both harvesting and increasing the yield or quality of flowers and fruits. I have revelation this morning that God prunes believers of their bad roots, branches and buds in order to grow healthy and to bear even more fruits.
Our roots (Past): God does not want us to dwell in the past. Our messes and bad past experiences that hinder us to move forward (Philippians 3:14). We will never experience freedom if we let our past to dictate your present and eventually your future. Do not dwell on regrets and the pain of the past. Wouldn’t be nice to rejoice whenever you remember those experiences, you would just start to praise and thank God for delivering you from those situations in life. Stop blaming people, your family, friends and environment and start taking responsibility now. God wants us to move forward. God is able to turn our bad experiences in life into a wonderful message of hope. Give them to God and don’t let those bad roots of your past stop you from growing.
Our Branches (Present): I believe that God is pruning us and deal with us on a daily basis. God is an all-knowing God. He knows what you are experiencing right now. He knows your secrets in our hearts and our motives. Nothing can be hidden from God. God wants us to experience the life he wants for us. God wants us to be free from bondage and chains of life. He wants us to get rid of bad habits and negative attitude. Have a mind fully set on Him. Every day, He wants us to be a living witness of His love and not full of murmuring and complaining. He is changing us from glory to glory. He doesn’t want us to be carrying those unnecessary branches trying to grow in different direction.
Our buds (Future): God is also dealing with the future bad bud in our life. Sometimes we may not be aware that God doesn’t give us the things we want. Especially those things that would potentially destroy our life and our relationship with Him. He cuts off people in our life too in order for Him to fulfill His plans in our life. God lets us experience pain from cutting off things and people in our life in order to avoid even stronger pain. God is protecting us but most of the time we think we know better than Him.
Pruning is painful. Sometimes it cuts really deep. It’s hard to let go of things you have been holding on forever. But God wants us to be blessed. He wants us to experience a life that He died for. But all we have to do is trust God, accept change and embrace the pain of God’s pruning. This is the best way for us to grow and bear even more fruit.
